The Name

The first thing you thought when you went on this site probably was "'Eterna'...is that a typo?" It's a perfectly reasonable thing to think, and it's true too. So now, brace yourself for a loooong story. Ready? Okay, so here's what happened: Once upon a time, in the far-away lands of neopia (XD, dontcha love this beginning?), there was an anime themed guild with the most boring name ever. Not to mention that the name was too long too. This name was simply "Anime and Manga Forever." Our guild leader, Mei, decided to change the name. So she asked for suggestions. After a while, the main suggestions were "Eternal Moonlight," "Eternity," "Eternal Promise," and some more that started with "Eternal". Then Yun, the infamous typo-ist, decides to post "how about 'eternal'?" But she, being the infamous typo-ist, misses just one letter. You guessed it, she missed the 'l'. Who would have guessed that just that one message would determine the fate of our guild. Anyway, at first, since Yun didn't bother to correct her typo, we all thought at first that she intentionally typed "eterna," which you gotta admit is a pretty cool name. We created a guild poll for the names, and the majority of the people voted for "eterna." Later on, I, Takara, suggested that we should capitalize it cause it looked cooler that way. Mei agreed to that and also added the dots before ETERNA, to make it .:ETERNA:., and that was how our name formed. Of course, the typo-looking word did cause us some problems, such as the host of this website having to ask us if it was a typo twice when we registered, but in the end it's all worth it. I mean, you know the history of how "own" became "pwn," right? Well, now our guild and website name has a similar history. And our guild and website do pwn!

history (site and guild)

A long, loooong time ago, around four ago, there were two friends who decided to make a guild on Neopets, and that guild was ~{}*The Guild of Hope and Rock*{}~ (yes, I know, corny, but I was young). The friends were Mei (me), and a girl whom we shall call...Nina. The site's theme was celebrities, because Nina liked them, and I had no interests whatsoever. For a while, we continued running the guild, making very simple layouts for the front page (without using photoshop or any other paint programs...just HTML), and about 20 members joined the guild. After a while, I grew interested in anime and manga as I read "Fruits Basket", which was introduced to me by Fish. My friends encouraged me to change the guild's theme to the manga, Fruits Basket. And so I did, and changed the guild name to ~{}*Fruits Basket Lovers*{}~. Nina, however, didn't really like Fruits Basket, so she quit the guild, and joined another one. However, I still continued with the guild, gaining about more 20 members, and changing the guild name to ~{}*Fruits Basket and Inuyasha Lovers*{}~, and then to ~{}*Anime and Manga Forever*{}~ as I grew interested in more anime and mangas. After a while, Takara joined the guild, and made the guild more exciting with more activites and events. After about a year, there were about 70 members in the guild. However, most of them were abandoned accounts, so I decided to delete all the members except Takara, Yun, and two other members and start over. Over the years, i had become pretty advanced with HTML, CSS, and Photoshop, and was able to make more complex layouts and graphics. However, her computer had been infected with a virus, and in the process of fixing it, Photoshop CS was deleted (Photoshop had been given to me by Nina as a birthday present). When I tried to reinstall Photoshop, only Imageready could open, because every time I opened Photoshop, a popup would come up, requesting an activation code which I did not know. So for a while, I coped with Imageready, and made the guild private. For a long time, the guild was private, and many of the council members wanted to make it public again. So I decided that when it did, it would have a "rebirth". I made a new account on Neopets, and moved the guild to that account. The new guild was named ".:ETERNA:.", and Takara and Yun joined the guild. I invited Fish and two members of the old guild to come, as well. Fish joined, but one of the two other members of the old guild had abandoned Neopets, so she did not join the new guild. Takara had given me a copy of Photoshop 7.0, so I was able to make layouts and graphics again. For a while, the new guild was private, and was going to be public once the guild website was finished. After applying for a subdomain with MisterUnscripted, I began making the site, and is still in the process of making it.
